It is said that the average price for an engagement ring should be roughly the sum of two salaries. This is clearly debatable and subjective, but also a good guideline if you really don’t know where to start from.
How much do people actually spend on an engagement ring in the UK?
Again, this is extremely subjective and you don’t really need to follow anyone’s opinion. However, the average cost for an engagement ring in the UK is about £6k.
If you decide to spend that amount on an engagement ring, you might also look into getting insurance for it. You will easily find many options available online.

Is it safe to buy engagement rings online?
As long as you buy from a reputable website and not a dodgy site with no actual address, customer service, or return policy, yes.
Another thing to consider is that online retail has always been cheaper than a high street store. Jewelry and particularly engagement rings also fit into the rule.

How to guess the perfect size for the engagement ring?
This is probably one of the main reasons why people are slightly hesitant to buying jewelry online. However, you don’t need to worry that much because there are many ways around it.
Obviously, the easiest thing would be to simply take a ring she wears on her ring finger and have it measured.
You could even get a piece of string to go around her finger. It might be a bit tricky if you didn’t want her to suspect it! If in any doubt, get a slightly larger one which you can always change to size, later.
