I remember the first time we met them like it was yesterday. On a sunny November day, we were walking through Greenwich Park in East London. Two photographers, a Dutch couple and their tandem bike, for a fun portrait session which quickly turned into a proposal photo shoot in Greenwich.
Three years later, we get another email from them to ask us if we were available to shoot their wedding in Holland! Little did they know we were secretly hoping we get to one day shoot their festival themed wedding, from the very first time we met!
We were welcomed to Rotterdam after a 30 minutes flight from London (which is just enough time to change a nappy and to chew the flight’s magazine, in case you were wondering). Greeted by people who seemed like they’ve been our friends forever, good chats and delicious food, it was bound to be a memorable wedding-weekend.
Very early on, it was clear that M + M did not aim for a traditional wedding whatsoever. A festival themed wedding at a campsite hired only for their closest family and friends, with an outdoor ceremony seemed to be the perfect choice! While you hear wedding speeches at the reception, they decided to have few family members and even close friends say a few words during the actual ceremony. It was an emotional and such a fun outdoor wedding ceremony for everyone to remember!
Because they are both doctors and never wore rings they decided that only the bride would wear jewellery after the wedding. The bracelet was custom made from rose gold and a family owned stone by Eva Schreuder. Marieke decided to go for a custom made wedding dress she could still wear after the wedding whilst Martijn was incredibly relaxed and looked so good in his Ted Baker shorts and shirt with shoes by Toms.
It feels almost sad to know we have closed the circle with their festival themed wedding, but I really hope that our paths cross again, soon! We are so happy to now call you friends!
